.
“BAMBOO” (right)
The first charcoal drawing I was ever proud of. Taken from a reference photo, what I love about this is the shallow depth of field, and use of contrast to imply detail.
.
“RABBITS” (below)
Portraits of Jessica and Roger Rabbit, sans eyes. Individually, they each look like they could belong to a different series. Seeing them together gives new meaning to each.

“POPE WITHOUT MEAT”
The front of the paper shows a recreation of Velásquez’s “Pope Innocent X” with a stanza from DC Talk’s “There Is a Treason at Sea”:
But You give me the keys to paradise
It is You who sympathize
You and Your perfection grow
I am cradled in Your oceans throw
On the back, I overlayed Bacon’s “Figure with Meat” and write a different stanza from the same poem, in a different lettering style, in the negative space above:
The dark ones who eternal in damnation grow
Set about me nowHow they whine and crow
DAILY DRAWINGS OF ORDINARY THINGS (below)
I keep my skills sharp by drawing as close to daily as possible. I’ll just pick something that looks interesting, set a timer, and go. Working from home with a stay-at-home preschooler doesn’t afford me a great deal of time, but any time is better than no time.
