DESCRIPTION
Joshua LOVES playing fantasy football – to the point where he’ll pay non-fantasy dollars for a fantasy logo for his fantasy team, the Easy Riders. Not a reference to the movie—it’s about navigating life with the kind of steady wisdom that says “easy, son. stay in control. this is your only fuckin’ ship.” So obvi, the logo is a ship’s helm.

PROBLEM
He wanted to put it on a shirt, but didn’t know what color shirts he’d have available. I needed to come up with something that would look good on several different colored backgrounds.

.

SOLUTION
I designed three versions of the logo with slight color tweaks to interact best with the three shirt color options I knew he was looking at.

METHODOLOGY
I did the sketches on my reMarkable, and then the rest in Illustrator. Being a sports logo, I kept it simple in elements, dynamic in composition, and all kinds of contrasty and strokey. That’s a word.

.

CRITIQUE
I rushed through the wordmark to meet the deadline. Otherwise, I’d have created a ligature between the “R” and “I”, connected the “e” and “r”, and made some adjustments on the underline.
